Well, what motivates you?
You believe that animals should be treated humanely
56-70 billion animals on average are slaughtered every year for human consumption (not including the billions of marine animals)
Factory farms give animals no quality of life. These animals are literally born to be slaughtered.
Animals in factory farms are often kept in tiny cages so they can hardly turn around or move. They aren’t able to carry out natural and instinctive behaviors.
Dairy farming involves impregnating a female cow over and over so she can produce milk for humans. They separate the mother from her baby almost immediately after birth and this causes severe emotional stress for them both. Often, the male babies (aka. Kill cows) are sold to slaughter for veal and the females are kept to keep the process going. Can you imagine having your baby taking away from you time and time again?
All animals are living beings with feelings, emotions, and awareness

Synthetic Growth Hormones
These are especially common in the dairy industry to increase milk supply of the cow, and the hormones carry over to the final product - milk (yogurt, cheese, sour cream, etc.).

Cancer, abscesses, tumors, open sores. These are often overlooked and ground up with the rest of the body.
Feces that carry many nasty illnesses are almost always present in raw meat
This is an investigation done in 2015 by Consumer Reports regarding beef. They tested 458 pounds of meat and every pound of it showed bacteria from feces. Also, 10% of the samples contained a strain of Staph. aureus bacteria that cannot be destroyed even with proper cooking
You want to feel better physically
Feel more ENERGIZED
Easily lose weight and maintain a healthy weight (no more fad diets!)
Replacing animal products with fruits and veggies will naturally increase your fiber intake to keep you full longer. It will also keep things moving regularly through the colon. These replacements are also lower in calories.
If you are trying to build muscle or you are an athlete, I recommend doing a google search on vegan athletes. It is clear that many athletes understand the science and can see a vegan diet is often the most beneficial for their training.
Gorillas are around 15x stronger than humans and have a plant-based diet. They do not rely on meat for their strength.
Lower cholesterol and blood pressure
Drastically reduce your risk of:
all kinds of cancer
Animal proteins promote cancer growth.
“Dr. Campbell (T. Colin Campbell - Nuritional Biochemist, Co-author of The China Study) says that in multiple, peer-reviewed animal studies, researchers discovered that they could actually turn the growth of cancer cells on and off by raising and lowering doses of casein, the main protein found in cow’s milk.”

Meat is a not essential to your diet to meet all your nutritional needs.
Plant-based foods offer all of the vitamins and minerals that meat offers, but with MUCH more health benefits
Many people experience amazing health changes and benefits when they switch to a vegan diet.
You are concerned about the effects of animal agriculture on the environment
We are cutting down acres upon acres of rainforest just to keep up with the demand for meat. They are putting farmed animals on these plots as well as the crops to feed the animals.
“Seven football fields’ worth of land is bulldozed every minute to create more room for farmed animals and the crops that feed them.”

It takes 2,400 gallons of water to produce 1 lb. of beef
Animal agriculture water consumption ranges from 34--76 trillion gallons annually.

Carbon dioxide, methane, and nitrous oxide together cause the vast majority of global warming.
Methane accounted for about 16% of global greenhouse gas emissions in 2015, according to the IPCC.
“Methane is roughly 30 times more potent [than carbon dioxide] as a heat-trapping gas.”
Princeton University. (2014, March 27). A more potent greenhouse gas than carbon dioxide, methane emissions will leap as Earth warms. ScienceDaily.

Cows produce 150 billion gallons of methane per day. This gets trapped in the atmosphere and warms our earth. If average temperatures increase or decrease with as little as 1-1.5 degrees, it can completely alter entire ecosystems.

Animal agriculture is a MAJOR environmental issue and it is a dominant contributor to global warming
We need to make changes now or earth will not be suitable for our generations (aka our children and grandchildren).
Becoming a vegan changed my whole life
I lost around 15 lbs. without having to cut my portion sizes.
I had a major change in my energy levels. I actually have the energy to exercise now, which I didn’t before my diet change.
My skin became brighter and I have less breakouts.
My stomach feels so much better! I hadn’t not had dairy products for more than 2 days in my entire life up until my diet change and I didn’t realize how yucky I felt until I ditched it.
My body doesn’t feel sluggish and tired after I eat meals anymore.
I get sick much less often.
I have less anxiety and my mental health is much better.
I no longer feel guilty about what is on my plate.
I finally feel connected to myself and my values.
I am finally questioning the “norms” that I used to give a blind eye to.
My whole sense of self has improved and I have gained so much clarity.
Just to sum it up, I would like to recommend some incredibly enlightening documentaries
“Overall, there are many different reasons people chose the vegan life. I know that all of these were contributing factors for my lifestyle change. I hope at least one of these things resonate with you and can inspire you to make more conscious choices. I believe that starting with even one vegan meal a week can help you gain the confidence to change your life! (and the lives of many others!) Perfection is not the goal. Giving your effort and just learning to be the best person you can be is the goal, my friends.” — Kali
